BH Cosmetics Palette | Spring Rainbow

The new Urban Decay Electric Palette has recently been taking over my Instagram and rapidly working its way through the blogosphere - it has left me constantly ‘ooo-ing’ and ‘ahh-ing’. Eagerly scrolling through my news feed, I have been flooded with bold, dramatic eye looks which I absolutely adore and so I thought I would re-create a multi-coloured eye using my affordable BH Cosmetics Palette which I have recently purchased and I am loving! REVIEW | Kleenex® Shine Absorbing Sheets

I, for one, am plagued by the curse of the oily t-zone.

I begin the day around 7.00am with a natural dewy complexion, but by lunch time I am sporting a large greasy streak down the centre of my face - lovely. For me, blotting papers are a handbag essential in discreetly keeping your make-up looking fresh without adding excess product.
The Kleenex Shine Absorbing sheets are contained within a small cardboard pack and hold a healthy 50 purple sheets. They are made of thick, powder free material and have an attractive matte print on the opposite side which makes them public friendly. The immediate oily/greasy residue is evident on the sheet following use, but they still manage to keep any existing make-up intact.
These are the best blotting sheets I have ever used and will be a firm staple in my handbag!

OOTN | Chester

Happy Easter Everyone!

Last night my lovely friends, Paul and I made our way into Chester to celebrate the long bank holiday. After 4 hours + of getting ready, sipping prosecco and singing along to our favourite tunes, we made our way to The Church (highly recommended if you ever visit!).

I thought I'd share with you my make-up and outfit of the night - enjoy!

REVIEW | Lancôme Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara

Hooray for the 4-day weekend!

Mascara is a make-up product I don’t usually like to experiment with as I know my favourites - Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Waterproof and Max Factor False Lash Effect Waterproof (they tick all boxes). However, my Aunty very kindly bought me a few Lancôme goodies for my birthday, so I got the opportunity to deter away from my usual and give Lancôme Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara a try.

As a general rule, waterproof mascaras are my absolute fave; no risk of panda eyes, but an absolute ball-ache to remove. Lancôme (original formula - not waterproof) state that full, maximum coverage can be achieved whilst evenly coated lashes without weighing them down. The unique cone shaped brush allows for smooth, easy application, even in the inner corner of the eyes, creating a wide eyed, doll eyes effect.

The first thing that grabbed my attention with this product was the scent - a floral scented mascara? Very bizarre! Following application I was pretty impressed with the finish; thick, black, voluminous lashes. However, throughout the day, I did find that it began to transfer above and below my eyelids and the curl started to flatten- not a good look! On a positive note, the formula is extremely easy to remove (a lot easier than waterproof!), but the overall effect just didn’t ‘wow’ me.

I have come to the conclusion that if it isn’t broke, don’t try and fix it!

Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Cleansing & Toning Lotion 150ml‏

After I had pumped, cut and shaken every last drop out of my LUSH Tea Tree Water Toner, I decided to cruise the aisles in Boots to see what alternative they had to offer. I have previously mentioned my love for their own branded Tea Tree Pore Strips so I eagerly popped a bottle of their Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Cleansing & Toning Lotion 150ml into my basket.

Boots claim the lotion contains active ingredients that will deep cleanse without over-drying, fight spot-causing bacteria, and unblock tone and tighten the pores - sounds fabulous! When I got home, I browsed the web to take a look at what others peoples thoughts were on the bottle. “Skin saviour”, “holy grail” and “life changing” were words which filled my iPad screen - Blimey! I couldn’t wait to remove my make-up later that evening!

My initial thoughts were positive; a strong, cooling tea tree scent which was extremely refreshing on the skin. I soaked the water-like formula on to a cotton pad and wiped over my face as a toner following cleansing and found it removed traces of make-up the cleanser hadn’t quite managed to - very impressed.

4 weeks on, this cleanser/toner has made its way into Paul’s hands as, after continuous use, I unfortunately found the formula a little too strong and drying for my sensitive skin. I must admit that it is a great product for deep cleansing the skin of make up dirt and oil, but I feel that it would be more beneficial for those with problematic/ oily skins.

REVIEW | Revlon ColorStay™ Foundation

In my previous post I declared my undying love for the Cosmopolitan Beauty Blender and since then I have experimented using it alongside different foundations. The Revlon ColorStay™ Foundation and sponge application combo has been my go-to base due to its coverage, formula and flawless finish.

Revlon ColorStay™ state that the foundation can be worn for up to 24hrs whilst still maintaining a fresh and lightweight feel. Its patented SoftFlex® moisture-balancing formula provides a comfortable medium to full coverage with added protection - SPF 15. The packaging is chic and simple; contained within a glass bottle.

I must admit, the paint-like scent is a little off putting when the lid is first removed, but it does not linger following application. The foundation sets and stays put throughout the day due to its smooth matte finish. Personally I always powder my t-zone after any foundation, but find Revlon ColorStay™ does not need blotting or retouching throughout the day. As a fair skinned blondie, I found the colour range to have an excellent variety to suit all skin tones and didn’t have any difficulty matching myself up to 'Buff'. It covers my naturally flushed cheeks quickly and easily and is buildable for those heavy duty night time occasions. My only gripe with this foundation is the fact that it doesn’t have a pump = wasteful and messy application!
