BIORÉ® Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips‏

There is nothing more satisfying than popping on a pore cleansing nose strip whilst in a hot bubble bath and slowly peeling it off to admire multiple blackheads that have been uprooted - T.M.I or just me?

I have been repurchasing the Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Nose Strips x6 for many years now. At £4.99 a box, they are the most effective and affordable pack I have come across. However, whilst scouring the isles a couple of weeks ago, I spotted that the BIORÉ® Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips were on offer - reduced down from £7.99 to £4.99. Always one to try different things, I popped a box in my already overflowing basket.

The Bioré strips contain similar ingredients to my regular Holy Grail purchase (tea tree oil and witch hazel) which claims to effectively remove pore-clogging build-up, dirt and oil that causes blackheads. They state that a week’s worth of greasy buildup can be removed with one strip (gross!). Simply cleanse your face and ensure your nose is thoroughly wet before applying the adhesive strip. Leave to dry for approximately 10-15 minutes or until stiff to the touch - papier-mâché feeling.

As much as I enjoyed trying the Bioré brand for the first time and gaining an insight into their other skincare products, the strips didn’t quite have the ‘WOW’ factor results that I have been used to. The strip was a little difficult and uncomfortable to remove and left a slight tacky residue on the skin. Personally, I feel that these deep cleansing strips are a little ‘heavy duty’ for my needs and may be more effective when used on a monthly basis rather than weekly.

Haul | Primark

Not only was it light on my drive to work this morning, I had the opportunity to whip out my sunnies- today’s a good day!

Finally, spring/summer is in touching distance and the bold, colourful prints are starting to creep their way into stores. Personally, summer fashion is my favourite - I am drawn in by any item that resembles colour vomit. Boots is armed with shelves of sun lotion and the High Street is starting to promote their bikini and beach wear clothing and accessories - hooray!

Paul and I drove to Liverpool at the weekend for a late lunch at the ah-mazing Red Hot World Buffet (an absolute must if you are in the area!). A visit to the City of Liverpool without a quick (long, definitely long) pit stop at Primark is criminal. The 4 story store was rammed with locals and tourists scouring the newly added spring additions with their partners sheepishly in tow. I actually ended up buying all the items that I had originally hand picked out to try on - a definite first for me!

I will include the prices of each item below if anyone is interested in finding them in store - enjoy soaking up the Vitamin D whilst it lasts!

Red & Gold Cami -£5
White Waistcoat - £15
Pink Floral Dress - £8
Studded Ballet Pumps - £6

Be Mine, Valentine

We are only 3 days away from Valentine’s Day so I thought I would share with you my very own loved up nail wheel. I’m definitely not a nail polish expert, but I do love a bit of creative doodling whilst watching Hollyoaks on the tele. I didn’t really need an excuse to experiment with lovey dovey designs in pink, purple, red & glitter – but who would?

On each nail I used a mixture of Barry M, Nails Inc & Essie polishes – if anyone is intrigued as to a particular individual colour, please feel free to ask! I used a variety of nail art dotting pens for some of the more detailed designs too which I picked up on eBay.

I hope everyone has a fabulous day – whether in a relationship or not! Paul is taking me out for dinner so stay tuned for some photos on my Instagram page – justinebalfour

O.P.I Nail Envy

I am just over halfway through my Level 2 Beauty Therapy Course and I am absolutely loving it (I am thinking of putting together a post about my experiences/feelings so far if anyone is interested!).

After studying manicures & pedicures in recent weeks, my attention was drawn towards my own neglected nails and I noticed that the frequent treatments were taking their toll. Chipping, flaking, snapping - they weren’t in good condition. I decided to pop a bottle of the Original O.P.I Nail Envy into my Amazon basket after reading countless encouraging reviews from fellow converted bloggers.

Nail Envy is a maximum strength polish which promises to strengthen and protect your nails with its hydrolysed wheat protein and calcium formula. Application of 2 coats on clean bare nails, continued with a regular top-up coat every other day to reap the rewards of a successful treatment.

Boy oh boy is this stuff good. This clear little miracle worker has had a significant impact on the length and quality of my nails in such a short space of time- from the first couple of days I noticed immediate results. The great thing about this treatment for all you polish-aholics is that you can layer your favourite colour on top and use the Envy as a base coat - simples.

O.P.I’s Nail Envy is a steal at £8.52 on Amazon here:
