Garnier Simply Essentials Make Up Remover

As an avid waterproof product wearer, I have tried and tested many eye makeup removers which have never impressed - too greasy, too watery, I have scrutinised them all. After numerous evenings soaking cotton pad after cotton pad with liquids I knew would only smudge and yank chunks of my eyelashes out, I decided it was time to begin the hunt for an eye makeup remover that ticked all the right boxes.

I purchased this bottle of goodness after I was drawn in by the 3 for 2 offer at Boots. I was already a regular to their Fresh Essentials Cucumber Face Wipes, so decided to give the Eye Make Up Remover a bash. It promised to remove waterproof make-up from sensitive skin without the need for rubbing- what’s not to love?
The formula consists of two phases: make-up removing oil (blue liquid) with the freshness of cleansing water (clear liquid) - magical. Simply shake the bottle to mix and gently hold on the eye area with a cotton pad for fuss free, no leftover residue, removal. Garnier do say that this product can be used all over the face, but I personally prefer to use an alternative cleanser.

Garniers Skin Naturals 2-in-1 Make Up Remover can be bought for £3.25 online here:

Moroccan Oil Hair Treatment

Moroccan oil is an instantly absorbing treatment for hair which helps repair damage caused by the environment, heat, and styling. Apply a small drop to the tips of clean, towel dried hair to condition and replenish dry, neglected ends. The formula claims to add fatty acids, omega 3 oils, vitamins and antioxidants to completely transform your locks.

This little bottle of goodness has completely changed my life (no exaggeration). Within weeks of smothering my ends with this miracle oil, my hair became so much stronger, looked shinier, and most noticeably had a sudden growth spurt. Helped with regular trims, my locks grew dramatically from a long bob to a shoulder length blunt cut. Sold.

Teamed with the Moroccan oil’s Moisture Repair Conditioner for hair that has been damaged by chemical processing (holds hand up), my hair has never looked or felt better.

A miniature Moroccan oil treatment can bought for £13.45 online here:

Simple Skincare

After 10 days of constantly stuffing my face with anything (and everything) in reaching distance of the sofa and one too many glasses of fizz, my skin has taken a battering.

I have been a huge fan of the Simple Skincare Range from an early age due to its uncomplicated ingredients, affordable price tag, and gushing recommendations. Winner of best cleanser 2011, Simple’s Kind To Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion is great at removing any unwanted stubborn makeup left over from a pre cleanse whilst creating a soft, smooth finish. Teamed with Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner which contains chamomile and witch hazel to soothe, tone and refresh unruly, dehydrated or sensitive skin. Apply using a cotton pad for quick, easy and fuss free application - fool proof.

With my nifty pink Bobble bottle in one hand and back to basic skincare in the other, I am ready to fight the blemishes - January come at me.

Simple Kind To Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion & Soothing Facial Toner are sold separately and are individually priced at £2.99 and can be bought online here:

2013 - Highs & Lows

On reflection, 2013 was the best and worst year of my life.
On the morning of the 7th October 2013 my Dad passed away suddenly and my heart was completely torn apart. Loosing someone so close to you without having the chance or opportunity to say goodbye is one of the toughest and hardest things I have ever experienced. I don’t want to delve into it too much as the whole situation is still extremely raw, but it is an enormous part of 2013 I will never forget.
Two months later on the 7th December 2013, my boyfriend of 5 years got down on one knee and proposed under the Clock Tower in Chester. Following the recent heartache of losing my Dad, it brought me and my family a sense of focus, comfort, distraction and happiness at such a difficult time. The proposal was unexpected but absolutely perfect and I am so excited to see what 2014 has in store for us.
Goodbye 2013, Hello 2014.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

This winter I made a pact with myself that I would step out of my comfort zone and dip my toe into the bold lip trend. I must admit that I’m a bit of a wuss when it comes to lip products - give me a tinted lip balm any day.

I am a huge fan of the NYX Collection Noir Black Liquid Liner, so when I received an e-mail from NYX Cosmetics offering free delivery on purchases over £10 I popped a NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Addis Ababa (bright fuchsia)  into my online basket - a colour which is right up my street!

Neither a lipstick nor a gloss, the lip creams come in 13 different shades, packed simply yet chic, and promise to add highly pigmented lasting colour to the lips. They are extremely lightweight, creamy, set to a matte finish, and can be applied directly to the lips or on top of lipstick - no flashy skills required.  I must admit that after a couple of hours I did find the formula lacked moisture and my lips became extremely dry, but this could be easily prevented by a generous smother of lip balm prior to application.

This lip cream won’t be gathering dust at the back of my dressing table, but it hasn’t wowed me enough to make the cut for my bold lip must-haves. It’s going to take something special to knock my beloved Rimmel Apocolips off the winners pedestal that’s for sure.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are priced at £5.50 and can be bought online here:
